My top 5 favorite moments from February 2017
Each month, I look back in reflection on my favorite moments, captures or days. This, in a nutshell, is what I love about photography; documenting the little things. It also provides a glimpse into the past to provoke emotions, share memories and tell stories.
1.Fruit Faces with my littlest little.
On a random Sunday afternoon still our PJs, I’m not even sure how it started, we were playing with the fruit basket and turning the different fruits into facial features. It didn’t last long, maybe 20 minutes or so, but I was able to capture some seriously precious moments and shared some full belly laughs with my little babe.
2. First Baseball Practice with Dad.
My husband is a baseball fan. He grew up going to games at Wrigley Field, played baseball through college and understands the sport better than most people I’ve spoken to. Yet for some reason, until this month the girls had yet to play baseball with dad in any way. While out shopping for studio goodies, he grabbed a bat and ball set without thought and it became such a huge hit with the littles. On one hand, were shocked when we realized that they hadn’t held a bat until this moment but on the other hand we were thrilled that we had waited because they loved the new-ness of the sport!
3. Warm Weather February.
Can we take a hot second (pun intended) to appreciate the weather that we have been given in the month of February? February in the midwest is supposed to be the dead of winter but not this year! 60 degree days this month lead to an early spring and the blooming trees pulled us outdoors everyday. One particular day we had to venture in the neighbors yard to gaze at the beauty of this bright yellow bush. It made us all giddy with excitement and reminded us that summer is right around the corner!
4. Signing the lease.
At this point, we are all aware of the new studio. (If not, read here or here.) There have been so many moments during this process that I could call my favorite but to pick just one, I would choose the signing of the lease. To be honest, I was terrified. That day, I felt a mix of emotions that spanned the entire spectrum. A month removed from this moment and I am appreciative of that day- crazy emotions and all. It reminds me that I am living life to the fullest, showing my girls how to use fear in the best way possible and follow your dreams (even when it scares the crap outta you). I hope one day they look back at the leap of faith their mama took that day and are proud.
5. Tutu Races.
This one speaks for itself- Tutus + bike races. Does it get much better?
