Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE lifestyle photography? Though I describe many of my photo sessions as “lifestyle photography” the true meaning of this kind of session is to capture a family in their natural element, being themselves. I always encourage my clients to be themselves, be playful and not to stare right into the camera when working with me but there is something different about working with a family in the comfort of their own home.
This wonderful family opted for this type of session because they had literally NEVER had family photos done in the past. Never. The last images they received were wedding photos long before their 2 children had been born. I get it though, I really do. Life is crazy, hectic, fast and very very busy. Months turn into years and before you know it 10 years have gone by without a single family photo having happened.
I honestly think that this fact is what made this session so sweet. We needed updated photos of kids, but we also needed to show where this family is, who they are, how they play and love and laugh together. And that’s exactly what we did.
Trampoline jumping, swinging, popsicle eating, book reading, front yard gymnastics, walk on the train tracks and bubbles.
Here are a few of my favorite images from our time together.
I’m a family photographer in the St. Louis area. I blog about my photography sessions, raising young children and what moms should know when they’re looking to hire a family photographer. If that’s interesting to you, sign up below to get email updates straight to your inbox. Thanks for reading!
